Skills development and inclusive work environment

Developing skills in a targeted manner and promoting diverse potential

Managers and employees are continuously qualified for future requirements with systematic learning management. We promote potential with targeted development programmes and focus on the recruitment and development of junior staff for the long-term development of the required skilled workers.

With systematic diversity management, we pursue the goal of promoting education and visibility and enabling people with disabilities to participate in working life as unrestricted as possible.

Our employees are important to us

Diverse range of social and fringe benefits

The benefits of NORD/LB are as diverse as the life models of our employees. Flexible working models and offers for reconciling work and family life create freedom in everyday life. Mobility services such as bicycle leasing support sustainable and healthy mobility. At our main locations, an excellent canteen with subsidised meals, free water and coffee and cocoa offers ensure a high quality of stay. This is supplemented by company sports groups and joint sporting activities – such as our participation in the B2Run in Hannover. So we create a working environment that promotes exercise, exchange and well-being – and offers space for personal development.

Different good, better together

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging

Under the motto "Different good, better together", NORD/LB pursues systematic diversity management in order to establish a culture of diversity and fair development opportunities.

The principles of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging are part of our corporate culture and are driven through the work of our Community of Diversity.

Promotion of well-being and performance

Our company health management

NORD/LB attaches great importance to maintaining the health and strengthening the performance of all employees. Occupational health management offers a variety of measures that support both physical and mental health.

Preventive measures, advisory services and health-promoting initiatives have a positive effect on working conditions and the working environment.

Donations & Social Day

Strengthening cohesion together

We have always seen donations as part of our social obligation as a Landesbank to actively contribute to the common good. Therefore, we particularly support projects of organisations that deal with the education and training of disadvantaged children and young people and that enable people with difficult social backgrounds to improve their living conditions.

Many employees also lend a hand themselves, for example as part of project days – for example as part of the NORD/LB-wide Social Day. Here, employees are given one day off paid time off to support charitable initiatives in selected projects.

Consideration of human rights in our own business operations and in the supply chain

NORD/LB assumes responsibility for the protection and respect of human rights – not only in its own business activities, but also in its cooperation with customers, suppliers and service providers. Through clear guidelines, international standards and a comprehensive whistleblower process, the bank focuses on transparency, prevention and the active promotion of sustainable development.

Responsibility for human rights

NORD/LB aligns its sustainability and human rights management with key international standards – including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Global Compact, the ILO Labour Standards, the UN Principles on Business and Human Rights, the OECD Principles for Multinational Enterprises and the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG).

LKSG Supply Chain Due Diligence Act

Human rights in our policies

NORD/LB clearly and bindingly enshrines respect for human rights in its Code of Conduct, the internal human rights guideline and the declaration of principles in accordance with the LkSG. These guidelines set binding standards for responsible conduct – within the bank as well as along our supply and value chains.br>

Zum Code of Conduct

Sustainable procurement management

NORD/LB is committed to responsible procurement management that consistently integrates ecological and social standards. The central element is our Supplier Code of Conduct, which defines clear expectations regarding human rights, environmental and labor standards and is binding for all business partners.
