Diversity and Equal Opportunities at NORD/LB

Our society is diverse – and this also applies to the world we work in. Since 2013 NORD/LB has been signing the "Diversity Charter - Companies in Germany" initiative. This Charter is Germany’s largest employer-led initiative promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace, aiming to create a respectful, prejudice-free environment where all talents are valued regardless of age, gender, nationality, abilities, religion, sexual orientation, or social background.

For more than a decade, we have been expressly committed to diversity and equal opportunities in a non-discriminatory working environment. Additionally, we have signed the UN Principles for Responsible Banking back in 2020 to make the impact of our business on sustainable aspects transparent and measurable.

In the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, the diversity dimensions are represented several times and are of great importance to us. We take a holistic approach that encompasses both our business relationships and value chains as well as the design of an inclusive work environment. It is important to us that all employees feel valued, accepted and supported.

Community of Diversity

At NORD/LB, the activities, enquiries and diversity networks are coordinated by the Community of Diversity.
The community's work spans different dimensions: religion and faith, gender, age diversity, sexual identity, ethnic and social origin as well as physical and mental abilities. We offer workshops on different topics such as equal opportunities, health and unconscious bias. Moreover, we raise awareness towards different topics of Diversity on specific days, such as the German Diversity Day, the International Weeks against Racism or Orange Day.
More than 10 per cent of our employees are already part of the community, dimension teams and networks.

Within the Community of Diversity, the largest groups are BUNT/LB, the bank's queer network and the women's network of NORD/LB (women@work).
