By integrating the Amsterdam and Madrid-based company, NORD/LB is complementing its existing product portfolio with specialised, in-depth advisory services covering project finance, M&A, and equity raising, particularly for renewable energy projects, representing a natural extension of the Bank’s long-established financing expertise.
As a result, NORD/LB will be better positioned to provide its clients in this growth market with solutions from a single source – covering the full spectrum of structuring, arranging, lending, underwriting, strategic deal advisory, and equity services. At the same time, Voltiq clients will benefit from deeper financial market knowledge and enhanced access to financial products and services, as well as increased proximity to stakeholders in key regions.
NORD/LB has been financing renewable energy projects for more than 30 years. During this period, it has supported more than 1,100 projects with a combined installed capacity of approximately 108 gigawatts. Through its Structured Finance division, the Bank has established itself as an innovator of forward-looking financing solutions in Germany and international markets.
Voltiq – Energy Transition Finance, established in 2009, has extensive expertise in the fields of solar energy, onshore and offshore wind, energy storage, hydrogen, bio-energy, and transmission networks. The company is active worldwide and has a broad international network. Voltiq will continue to operate as a specialised advisory business under its own brand, building on the existing team.
The enhanced integration of advisory and financing expertise will create additional market opportunities and further develop the Bank’s competitiveness. At the same time, the transaction underlines NORD/LB’s international focus in this area and strengthens the resilience of its business model.
Hogan Lovells Cadwalader acted as NORD/LB's legal adviser on the deal, with Deloitte acting as adviser for tax and financial due diligence. Kemperink, Maarschalkerweerd Wouters acted as Voltiq's legal adviser, with Sacaba Capital & Advisory as financial adviser and AvT Adviseurs as tax adviser.
