Jörg Frischholz becomes new Chairman of the Managing Board of NORD/LB

The Supervisory Board and the Owners' Meeting of NORD/LB Norddeutsche Landesbank today appointed Jörg Frischholz as the new Chairman of the Bank's Managing Board. The 45-year-old is currently the Board Member for Private Customers at UniCredit Bank AG (HypoVereinsbank) and will take on his new role on 1 January 2022. He succeeds Thomas Bürkle (68), who is leaving the bank at his own request when his contract expires at the end of the year.

Jörg Frischholz has worked for UniCredit Bank AG since 2015, first as Head of Corporate Banking in Eastern Germany, then in Northern Germany. During this time, he was a member of the Executive Board Germany. In April 2020, he moved up to the Management Board of UniCredit and has since been responsible for Private Clients, Private Banking / Wealth Management and Small Cap Corporate Banking. Before joining UniCredit, Frischholz held senior positions in corporate banking at Commerzbank and Dresdner Bank. Born in Westphalia, Frischholz is a trained banker and holds a degree in business administration.

"Jörg Frischholz is an excellent manager with extensive experience in the German banking market," said Reinhold Hilbers, Lower Saxony's Finance Minister and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of NORD/LB. "He is an impressive leader with a firm set of values. His particular strengths lie in the areas of digitalisation, transformation and customer orientation. Jörg Frischholz will give NORD/LB new impetus and at the same time consistently continue the transformation of the bank initiated by Thomas Bürkle."

At the same time, Hilbers thanked NORD/LB's Chairman of the Managing Board, who was leaving at the end of the year, for his achievements in recent years: "Thomas Bürkle took over the management of the bank in a very difficult phase. He tackled the challenges facing the bank with courage and determination. It is to his great credit that he has driven the successful realignment of the Bank. Thomas Bürkle will continue the transformation of the Bank until the end of the year. I would like to thank him already today for his achievements. “
