Thomas Bürkle to continue to head up NORD/LB until end of 2021

The Supervisory Board of NORD/LB Norddeutsche Landesbank took an early decision at its meeting today to renew the contract of the Chairman of the Managing Board Thomas Bürkle by two years, up to 31 December 2021.

The Supervisory Board of NORD/LB Norddeutsche Landesbank took an early decision at its meeting today to renew the contract of the Chairman of the Managing Board Thomas Bürkle by two years, up to 31 December 2021.

Thomas Bürkle was appointed the bank’s Chairman of the Managing Board as at 1 January 2017. Prior to that, he held the office of Chief Risk Officer (CRO) on the Managing Board for three years. The 65-year-old graduate economist has held management positions for the NORD/LB Group within Germany and abroad since 2002, among other roles as Chairman of the Managing Board of NORD/LB subsidiary Deutsche Hypo. The contract extension is still subject to the approval of the bank’s Owners’ Meeting.

“In a difficult environment, Thomas Bürkle introduced a fundamental transformation of NORD/LB. In times of change, it is vital to maintain staff continuity. We therefore wish to pursue our excellent cooperation based on mutual trust with Thomas Bürkle,” explained Chairman of the Supervisory Board of NORD/LB and Minister of Finance for Lower Saxony Reinhold Hilbers.
