Christoph Dieng (48) will become the new Chief Risk Officer (CRO) on the Managing Board of NORD/LB Norddeutsche Landesbank. This was decided by the Bank’s Supervisory Board in its meeting this Friday. Dieng will thus assume responsibility for Credit Risk Management, Finance and Risk Control, Restructuring and Workout as well as the Research/Economics division of the Bank. He will take up his new function on 1 January 2017 and will thus succeed Thomas S. Bürkle who will take over as Chairman of the Bank’s Managing Board on the same date.

As Chief Credit Risk Officer Dieng has already been heading up Credit Risk Management at NORD/LB since September 2007. Moreover, he acts as Deputy Chairman of the Group Risk Committee of the NORD/LB Group. Before he joined NORD/LB, the trained banker who also has a degree in business administration had held various positions over a period of fourteen years and worked on the market and back office sides for Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt, Geneva, London and Munich as well as for Deutsche Morgan Grenfell in New York.

“Christoph Dieng is an excellent and experienced risk manager. In him we have found the ideal solution in house for the function of Chief Risk Officer”, explained the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of NORD/LB and Minister of Finance of Lower Saxony Peter-Jürgen Schneider. “He has a detailed knowledge of NORD/LB’s credit portfolios. The fact that NORD/LB came through the financial crisis unscathed and that it is able to deal with the worldwide shipping crisis through its own efforts is thanks not least also to his work and expertise.” His appointment is subject to the approval of the ECB.
