NORD/LB presents its first Group-wide Sustainability Report for 2013
NORD/LB Norddeutsche Landesbank has presented its first Group-wide Sustainability Report. The report covers the Group’s entire relevant economic, social and ecological performance for the financial year 2013.
The detailed overview of the Group Sustainability Report will serve as a decision-making aid particularly for sustainability-orientated investors looking to invest in NORD/LB, which has been classified as a sustainable investment by German sustainability rating agencies such as oekom research AG, Sustainalytics AG and imug Beratungsgesellschaft für sozial-ökologische Innovationen mbH. The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) application level check scores the report at application level A.
“We therefore understand sustainability in a broad sense and it is our aim to act sustainably in all of our actions for the bank, for its staff, customers and owners and for society. Sustainability is therefore not just limited in NORD/LB to a handful of prestige projects, but encompasses all areas of our bank,” explained Dr. Gunter Dunkel, Chairman of the Managing Board of NORD/LB.
In order to embed this understanding in all business and company processes, a Group-wide project was established as part of the sustainability relaunch in 2013. The Sustainability Report is one measure introduced by the relaunch and provides a comprehensive overview of the activities and the implementation status of the project.
“Sustainability offers us the opportunity to combine our service range with a special contribution to the economy and society,” said Mr. Dunkel. “This will also ensure not least of all the success and continued existence of our bank.”
The Sustainability Report 2013 has been compiled on the basis of the international Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standard and includes the requisite progress report for membership in the UN Global Compact. As a member of the Global Compact of the United Nations, the bank subscribes to the ten principles from the fields of human rights, working standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption.
