The main office of NORD-LB at Breiter Weg 7 in Magdeburg, completed in 2002, has around 600 office workplaces, of which some 65 percent are used by NORD/LB and the Investitionsbank Sachsen-Anhalt.
The façade consists of approximately 275 tonnes of natural stone slabs made of pale blue veined Azul Macaubas quartzite from Bahia/ Brazil.
Since its opening, the building complex, which is open from all sides and viewable by passers-by, has contributed considerably to the revitalisation of the cathedral square, not least due to the letting of shop spaces to higher-class retailers and dining establishments. Opposite the Magdeburg main office is the last building conceived by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, the "Green Citadel".
