The head office of NORD/LB, opened in Hannover at Friedrichswall 10 in June 2002, is 17 storeys high and has a gross floor area of 81,000 square metres. There is room for 1,500 employees in this glass building that is consists of a total of 18,800 panes of glass and is 83.52 metres high. The architectural work of art, designed by Behnisch, Behnisch & Partner, was awarded the Lower-Saxony state prize for architecture in 2002.
A further special feature of the building are the three lakes in the center of the inner courtyard. The lakes link up optically to form an overall water surface area that is 3,300 square metres in size and forms part of an exemplary ecological concept for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning.
The NORD/LB building at Friedrichswall, which has replaced the office at Georgsplatz 1 as NORD/LB's head office, is not only a state-of-the-art office complex, but is also home to a parade of restaurants and shops and the NORD/LB art gallery, which offers a space of some 260 square metres for exhibitions and events.
